Kaaos Festival Launches in Vaasa – First Bands Announced and Tickets Now Available
Vaasa’s heavy music scene is getting a major boost next summer with the arrival of Kaaos Festival, a brand-new event focused entirely on metal. The festival will be held on July 25–26, 2025, at the former Wasalandia amusement park site in Vaskiluoto. It is being organized by WsArena Oy (the team behind the Lisää Löylyä Festival) in collaboration with Kaaoszine.
Festival promoter and Kaaoszine editor-in-chief Arto Mäenpää shared the origin story behind the new event:
“The idea for a new festival came up when I contacted WsArena about collaborating on the 2025 edition of Lisää Löylyä. Ari Rintamäki, the promoter of that festival, suggested launching a new event together — and since the thought of a Kaaoszine-branded festival had been brewing in the back of my mind for a few years, it was an easy yes.
We rolled up our sleeves and got to work. The result is a lineup that really reflects the Kaaoszine identity, offering a broad spectrum of metal styles and subgenres.”
As part of the festival’s launch announcement today, 8 of the 16 total bands have been revealed: The Haunted, Fleshgod Apocalypse, In Mourning, Bloodred Hourglass, …And Oceans, Assemble The Chariots, Enemies Everywhere, and Where’s My Bible.
Mäenpää added:
“As of now, the plan is to feature 16 bands over two days across two stages. The smaller stage will host a mix of seasoned domestic metal acts and rising local names, while the main stage will focus on high-profile and current international artists.
So far, 12 of the 16 slots are locked in, and we’re in active talks with potential headliners. We’ll also be launching a contest soon where one band can win the chance to perform on the smaller stage. We’ll share more updates on new bands and the competition later in 2024 and early 2025.”
The festival will take place at the former Wasalandia site, which has already proven to be a fan favorite venue through the Lisää Löylyä Festival.
“Our goal is to make Kaaos Festival an annual event,” Mäenpää said. “We hope all longtime readers of Kaaoszine—and metal fans across Finland—will pack their bags and come experience some seriously heavy bands in an awesome setting.
The Wasalandia area has already received rave reviews from festival-goers, so the setup is perfect. See you all in Vaskiluoto at the end of July!”
